Moles if encountered or exist in your area will leave you with no choice than to get rid of them as soon as possible. Delaying the application of measures to get rid of moles will cost you more than you are actually trying to save initially by not doing it. They will dig and dig till they get tired, that’s what they do.
Underground Fences Are A great Way to Start
What is important is to know the material you are going to use for the fences. Moles will go through a lot to dig deep down but use of galvanized material. Dig a deep horizontal area outside your lawn/garden and start setting the fence. Keep the fence at least 24 inches down ground level and above the ground, 6 inches will do it as moles are not in height greater than that.
Castor-oil Based Repellent
For mole infestation, there are a lot of chemical based repellents available in the market. But the most effective ones to be found till date are the castor-oil based ones. So what you have to do it is take a decent amount and start spreading the repellent in places that you think are prone to mole interference. Also, digging a pit & adding gravel to it will not allow them to dig into the ground as gravel is not so easy to dig upon.
Traps Can be Used
Moreover, traps for years have come in handy and have been a great solution to Mole problems. Similarly, different kinds of traps are available at your disposal. The basic mouse snap trap is used inside the tunnel and the moles will get caught by the quickness of the spring. Other traps may contain spikes which will kill the moles then & there if found messing around. Furthermore, use of preventions is always better than facing a situation and going for quick solutions.
